I'm pretty excited about this. P. Craig Ruseell is a creator I've long been a fan of. His art, in the superhero medium, stood out by a level of realism and fantasy. One of my favorite runs of his is on the Spectre with J.M. DeMatttis when Hal Jordan had the mantle of Gods' hand of vengeance. The book was more about redemption (this was right after he had become Parallax and killed the Green Lantern Corp). The series explored mortality, morality and dived deep into the meta-pyshcial aspects of the Spectre's powers. Russell was perfect for the art.

ANY-who...so when I first saw...nay, experienced his art was on Legends of The Dark Knight Returns #43 - Hot House Part 2.

Poison Ivy has infected Batman and he can't get her out of this head. So the scene is Ivy has total control of Batman, she' creating this entire world of warmth and love and peace. She's slowly peeling away his mask to expose his identity. Batman knows he needs to stop her, but it's so warm, so perfect, and all he has to do is give in and he can feel this peace forever. But since he's Batman he knows he needs to stop her and has work to do so he fights off her powers and  out of her "love & affection". Check out the scene below:

Ok, so now you tell me how you read this and you don't think about it every time you need to get out of bed when you are in high school - cause that's what happened to me. I thought of this dang scene EVERY. DAY. when I got out of bed to jog before I went to class. So there you go.
