The Comic Book Book Club met last night to talk about WE ONLY FIND THEM WHEN THEY'RE DEAD by Al Ewing & Simone De Mio, published by Boom Studios.
The group was mixed about their thoughts of the book - some thought Vol 1 was more set-up than story (which gave us a great opportunity to talk about Jim Shooters' rules of story making), and the art was at times hard to follow because of the digital art style (but that gave us an opportunity to talk about come book page structure, paneling and paper quality changes over the years.) All in all it was a great meeting with lots of great discussion. Eggnog was served, beers were drunk, fruit cake was had.
Someone brought up a point about did the miners ask where these Gods came from before humans started pulling apart thier corpses. Which led us to the question I'm still thinking about this morning "Does it matter WHERE Gods come from? Can humans accept knowing there are things that are unknowable?" Anyhow - that's the kind of stuff we get into with the Comic Book Book Club. See you next month!
