Missouri-born, UK-based cartoonist, Russell Mark Olson will be at Apotheosis Comics on the 2nd of December signing copies of the St. Louis set, Gateway City series.
Gateway City takes readers back to Prohibition America: mobsters, moonshine, and…martians? When gangster aliens invade the midwestern metropolis, a detective, lawyer, reporter, speakeasy owner, and a talking bear team up to send the goons packing. Filled with historical details and real world locations, Gateway City is an out-of-this-world trip back in time to the roaring twenties.
It also shines a light on bygone St. Louis: did you know St. Louis had a huge motordrome at Priester’s Park? Did you know there used to be a Priester’s Park? Downtown had a thriving Chinatown called Hop Alley? There used to be a place called The Lung Block? In Gateway City, St. Louis is more than just a backdrop: she’s a lead role.
